MTN’s next members’ event is an online panel of producers and programmers discussing the comparative viability of ideas for new musicals. Not ‘what will make the most money’, but what are the characteristics of new musical theatre content in development that convince producers, creative collaborators and development partners the project is going to succeed in realising its creative vision AND have the impacts on audiences that it intends.

Individuals’ insights will include sharing learning from what doesn’t work. There are exceptions to any rule (and some views on this complex area are a matter of individual opinion), but if there’s a creative choice which has often generated obstacles and closed doors in the path to a production for a musical, wouldn’t you want to know about it, and find an innovative side-step?

Panellists to include Andy Barnes (42 Balloons, Six), Chuchu Nwagu (Burlesque, The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind) and Katy Lipson (The Last Five Years, Flowers for Mrs Harris) and the event will include an opportunity for questions. This event is free to MTN members, £5 to non-members.
