Join MTN for an online discussion about evolving approaches to developing new musicals in China, including considering how UK-based producers and creatives can best collaborate with China-based producers and organisations developing new musicals. This will be an online round table discussion, at which some Chinese producers will share insights into their current approaches, followed by peer-to-peer discussion.

At this stage we hope to be joined by Richard Fei of Shanghai Culture Square venue, who have run a musical theatre development initiative with American and Korean participants, Joanna Dong of Performance Infinity, who have worked with Chinese and UK partners on the staging of ‘Lady M’ – one of the first English-language musicals to be developed in China, Haixiao Wang of Haixiao Productions, who are developing new musicals with collaborators in China and Korea, and Hankun of Focustage, who are producing immersive stagings of new musicals in their Chinese venues (speakers subject to change). Please fill in the ticketing form with any questions you have for our Chinese producers.

Attendance is free for non-MTN members for this round table discussion, with attendees joining the zoom call to enable peer-to-peer discussion in the second half of the event (as it will be recorded for future reference, please turn your camera off if you do not want to appear within this recording). Please note the earlier than usual time of this event, in order to be accessible for our China-based guests. For those unable to attend at this time, the recording will later be made available to members of MTN and MMD on the Members Hub.
