Friday Artist Spotlights
Parisa Shahmir
Parisa is a British/Iranian singer, composer & established actor working in the theatre industry for 11 years. Her voice as a writer is very much a blend of empowered, political feminism & raw, authentic storytelling through song. As an actor, she’s toured globally with theatre productions such as Mamma Mia, Sting’s The Last Ship, & We Live In Cairo, an original musical debuted at the Tony Award winning ART in Boston, USA.

My Current Project
Medusa
Medusa: Mortal or Monster? Victim or Villain? Beguiler or Betrayed? This folk-inspired musical retelling of the ancient myth reclaims the narrative; casting Medusa as the heroine of her own story and, in doing so, amplifying the voices of women everywhere whose stories have been silenced. An original and captivating new score blends folk instrumentation with honest, authentic songwriting, transporting audiences to a world rooted in folklore. Here, Medusa embarks on a powerful journey to embrace her true power – her voice, raw and unapologetic, which she uses to transform her legacy from one of fear to one of strength, courage, and truth.
What I'm Looking For
I am seeking venues and resources for a full workshop later in 2025, as well as a producer, theatre, or collaborating partner who is passionate about Medusa’s story and the message behind it, interested in supporting its future life and development.
