Friday Artist Spotlights
Michelle Vacciana
My life and artistic practice (same thing) are embedded within supporting the development and creative realisation of ideas – whether the idea be my own, those extracted out of communal discussions or devising processes. I am a supporter by trade and by nature.
I have previously written, produced and performed two short ‘One Woman’ shows (60-80 mins); I am a storyteller, a listener, and an organiser of parts into a sum, working across the disciplines of theatre-making, moving image, music and visual language. I believe in the transformative power of Art, sharing stories and exploring our own unique forms of expression.

My Current Project
Patterned
‘Patterned’ is the story of young man, who has been a career criminal since childhood, and is in and out of prison. When on remand, he learns that his little brother has been taken into care. This shock sets him on a trajectory to rapidly reform his life so he can go to the rescue. As he grapples to conform to the system, he ends up going on a deeper journey where facing his demons turns out to be more terrifying than having a gun held to his head.
What I'm Looking For
I need some support on this response due to the stage I am at. I am in a creative process at the moment; writing and music producing. A mentor would definitely be helpful and someone such as a Producer to help me navigate the practicalities of venue support, forward planning around getting my show in front of audiences and what that would look like. Perhaps looking at presenting work at festivals? It would be good to have someone who can support me in the journey, a touch-base who knows the industry.
