Cricket & The Freebugs
In 1972 in an apple tree in Central Park, one band changed music forever. The only reason you may not have heard of them is – they were all insects.
This is the true story of a Cricket who left his home in the fields with nothing but his trumpet and a dream of hitting the bug time. How did he beat the odds and assemble the eclectic band of insects now known all over the world as The Freebugs?
Tune in your antennae to the funky, soul filled music of The Freebugs as they reveal how they wriggle through disappointment, big egos, and an early winter frost to find out what it really means to follow your dreams.

Eleanor Isherwood
We are Johan and Milo, one a stick insect from the forests of Sweden, the other a cricket from vibrant London fields—two musical makers brought together by our shared love of storytelling, music, and theatre. We met during our time at The School of the Science of Acting where we both studied acting and stage directing and found a common passion for creating rich and vivid worlds delivered with warmth and a quirky sense of comedy. We’ve created several musical shows, including three pantomimes touring schools nationwide (Jack & Jill and The Beanstalk 2022, Robin Hood 2023, Puss in Boots on Treasure Island 2024, all Splats Entertainment), and a host of musical sketches including a Christmas special: A Southpole Christmas (2023) about a group of penguins who bear no (intentional) resemblance to The Beach Boys or The Beatles! Johan’s also directed opera in the UK and Europe and Milo recently created music for readings of two different plays by Julia Pascal performed on holocaust Memorial Day.
